Docstories Black Sea is a unique training initiative of IDFA, Art-Doc and the Noosfera Foundation, focusing on documentary storytelling. The workshop deals with different techniques of building a storyline, with innovative dramaturgical structures, new TV formats and web documentaries. Internationally renowned tutors and experts will train 15 selected participants who can apply with projects at the development, production as well as at the rough-cut stage.
Documentary directors, editors, producers and other TV or media professionals from the greater Black Sea region (Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Byelorussia) may apply. A certain number of EU nationals will be also accepted. The selected applicants will take part in three workshop-sessions: Tbilisi (Georgia), Sibiu (Romania) and Amsterdam (The Netherlands) during IDFA 2012 and the IDFAcademy. They will take part in all industry events of the festival and they will present their projects at the most important doc event in Europe.
The working language of the workshop is English, but there will be also a Russian speaking group during the session in Tbilisi.
The training initiative Docstories Black Sea contains three sessions:
The first session takes place in Tbilisi (Georgia) from 02.07.2012 - 06.07.2012 and deals with storytelling structures & dramaturgy.
The second session takes place in Sibiu (Romania) from 16.10.2012 - 20.10.2012 in cooperation with the Astra Film Festival and deals, besides further development of the projects, with innovative documentary formats for TV & internet.
The third session takes place in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) from 15.11.2012 - 19.11.2012 in partnership with IDFA and IDFA Academy and deals with funding, co-production and distribution possibilities. The participants can present their projects in organized one-on-one meetings at the biggest and most important documentary festival in Europe. Apart from this they will attend all industry events & master classes organized by IDFA Academy.
